The selection of a valve for the process to be undertaken demands precise clarification of the following points:

 

  • What is the required through flow?
  • Are several work stations supplied with vacuum from the same source? If so, is a non-return valve made from Kalrez® required in the valve?
  • Are aggressive gases delivered? And therefore higher chemical resistance demanded of the materials?

 

 MLT valves can be divided into four groups:

 Vacuum valves

Vacuum valves are available with a nominal diameters of 1.6 mm and 4.0 mm. Vacuum valves with a G1/2“ connection can be connected to a laboratory vacuum.

 Medium divided vacuum valves

Medium divided vacuum valves are used where highly aggressive gases are delivered and a high chemical resistance is required. The armature chamber of the valve is completely separated from the medium flow, thus preventing corrosion of the armature. This type of valve is available with a nominal diameter of 4.0 mm.

 Combined vacuum / cooling water valves

The combined vacuum/cooling water valve is a space-saving variant for situation where vacuum and cooling water are required for the process.

 Cooling water valves

This type of valve is used for cooling rotary evaporators, among other things, and has a G1/2“ connection for a laboratory vacuum.

The cooling water valve has nominal diameter of 1.6 mm. This type of valve is controlled by a PVK-700/710 vacuum controller. The flow through the valve can be precisely adjusted to the desired value using the t-bar, which allows the cooling water requirement to be reduced and optimised.
